Belinda Willis is an award-winning strategic communications and marketing professional specializing in content creation for government, business and industry. Belinda served for more than 20 years as the PIO and Director of Communications & Marketing for the City of Mansfield, Texas, where she was responsible for generating content for the City’s various channels including social media, website, print and marketing. Belinda’s success as a communicator is founded on more than 20 years as an award-winning journalist and editor in Dallas-Fort Worth. She is a past president of the Texas Association of Municipal Information Officers, a past board member of the Texas Municipal League and a past board member of the City-County Communications & Marketing Association. She has taught the TML newly elected officials media training class as well as training city staffs in the areas of media and crisis communications. Belinda is one of the founders of the Certified Public Communicator program at Texas Christian University and serves on its advisory board. In 2019, she was the recipient of the Cheryl A. Soward Communicator of Distinction Award from TAMIO.
Strategic Communications Consultant Sharon Logan has more than 30 years experience in local government having served as the City of Coppell, Texas' first public information officer, after service in Arlington, Grand Prairie and Hobbs, New Mexico. Sharon is a graduate of the University of Texas in Arlington and of the first graduating class of the Certified Public Communicator Program at Texas Christian University. Sharon has extensive experience in telling a government agency's story, proficient in web and social media content, video creation and programming, promotional work and more. She twice served as president of the Texas Association of Municipal Information Officers and served on the board for Texas Municipal League. TAMIO conferred upon her the Cheryl A. Soward Communicator of Distinction honor in 2012.
Will Hampton understands local government communication challenges. He successfully combined his multi-media storytelling skills with effective citizen engagement practices for nearly 24 years with the City of Round Rock, Texas. Residents there regularly gave his efforts high marks in citizen surveys, and his team won more than 100 awards from national and state associations. He served on the board of directors of the Texas Municipal League, City-County Communications and Marketing Association (3CMA) and Texas Association of Municipal Information Officers (TAMIO). He was recognized by his peers as the 2018 Communicator of the Year by 3CMA, and the 2021 Cheryl A. Soward Communicator of Distinction by TAMIO.
A veteran and Telly-award winning video producer, Kevin Slayter has 35 years and thousands of hours of video production work to his credit, including award-winning programs at the regional, state and national levels. His expertise includes pre-production, budgets, video and digital film production, audio production, editing, graphics and after effects. Specific municipal projects for the DFW area cities of Carrollton, Coppell and Farmers Branch include productions like State of the City, event promotion and highlights, budget explanatory videos and more. In addition, he has worked with CEOs and marketing teams from Verizon, Saber, Travelocity in both internal and external communications.
Betsy Deck is a strategic public communicator and Accredited Business Communicator with experience in community affairs and environmental sustainability. She spent 20 years in local government with the cities of Euless and Southlake, primarily focused on leading complex communications and outreach initiatives to culturally diverse populations. Betsy built trust with employees, residents and businesses through responsive communication and community engagement, while also advocating for environmental initiatives through solid waste, water quality and water reclamation projects. She also brings experience in website and social media content management, public education campaigns, video production and economic development marketing, with 80 hours of training with the Economic Development Institute.
JJ Jones is a seasoned Certified Emergency Management professional with 40 years of experience in the emergency management arena, from first responder to emergency manager. She has experience in writing emergency plans, conducting drills/exercises, training, and responding to major disasters, including a presidential declared disaster. She brings the aspect of actual response experience to realistic emergency planning. Her experience includes, paramedic, City of Fort Worth OEM, FEMA, special events and medical community emergency planning and response, i.e., 2000 Tornado, Wedgwood
Church Shooting, Hurricanes, Ebola, and COVID-19.
Rick Sales is an award-winning graphic designer with more than 40 years developing logos, annual reports, brochures and digital graphics, including 15 years working primarily in municipal government. He is a graduate of Texas Tech University with a BFA in Design Communications and a minor in marketing/advertising. His love comic books and super heroes fuels his interest as an illustrator, as well as a fine artist and painter. His work is on display at several local galleries. He is skilled in Adobe Creative Cloud software, QuarkXPress and all MAC software.
Steve Mace is skilled in the
disciplines of broadcast journalism, public relations, marketing, and crisis
communications. Part of the first graduating class of Certified Public Communicators
at Texas Christian University, he served the City of University Park, Texas as community
information officer and then director of marketing and communications. Prior to
his 18-yeaer tenure with University Park, Steve spent 25 years in radio news in
various markets. A capitol correspondent for WKY Radio in Oklahoma City, he was
also news director for KRLD Radio in Dallas, then a CBS Radio-owned all-news
station. Helping to advance the Amber Plan beyond North Texas, Steve collaborated
with local broadcasting executives, the National Center for Missing and
Exploited Children, Congress, the National Association of Broadcasters, the
Federal Communications Commission, and law enforcement to broaden program support
and understanding. Steve attended the White House signing ceremony for the National
Amber Alert program in 2003.
